For the past 25 years, IC Engineering has been engineering new production efficiency solutions for Chevron’s upstream and downstream businesses.

We completed a major pilot plant to process crude with heavy sulfur deposits has enabled Chevron to accept the most abundant feedstocks available around the world. Our partnership with Chevron now includes scientists working in research & development, field engineers and other business professionals.

The Western Digital campus in San Jose is bigger than some towns and currently houses hundreds of semiconductor tools and production equipment within 20 plus buildings.

The challenge was to communicate across 5 different SCADA monitoring systems with hundreds of PLCs online when many of these systems were at end of life.

IC Engineering narrowed the playing field with two SCADA systems that control the entire campus utility distribution system including HVAC systems to maintain constant environmental controls for semiconductor FABS.

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) now connects each tool and notifies when an upset condition is taking place so the tools can go into a standby mode and avoid producing defects to the wafers being produced.

These advanced protocols implemented with Internet of Things are an estimated potential savings of $25M per year in lost production and materials that make the wafers for the Western Digital campus product lines.

Valero is advancing the future of energy through innovation, ingenuity and unmatched execution which is why they tasked IC Engineering with the integration of a new PLC program stack and HMI interfaces (Wonderware and CIMPLICITY) to provide local operator access outside of the main control rooms.

The modernization of refining required replacing outdated controls with new tools and equipment that can interface with existing Honeywell TDC Distributor Control Systems (DCS).
